Network
What is a Network
A Network captures the information extracted from Documents into a structure that can be analysed, searched and visualised.
The Network contains:
-
Nodes (Documents and Entities)
-
Links (connections between Nodes), and
-
Properties of nodes and links including fields and features.
Knowledge Graph vs Database
The Knowledge Graph is a tool for storing data in a structured schema made up of nodes, links and properties.
While a Relational Database is also a tool for storing data in a structured schema, the made up of tables and fields, the Knowledge Graph has greater flexibility for representing complex relationships.
Knowledge Graph vs Text Graph
The Knowledge Graph and Text Graph are tools for structuring data into nodes and links, and both are used in Sintelix.
-
The Text Graph turns text into a structure that can be analysed and annotated and is used to mark up text references, entities and links in Documents. See Text Graph, Tokens and Nodes.
-
The Knowledge Graph turns information into a structure that can be analysed, searched and visualised and is used to store a Network.

The diagram illustrates how data is captured into a Network of nodes and links.
Networks and Knowledge Graphs
Knowledge graphs allow networks of information to be searched, sorted, filtered, and visualised in tables, maps, link charts (below) and timelines.
