Field Path Notation
Introduction
Field path notation is a syntax used to get values in Documents, Entities and Nodes so that the information can be used in a configuration.
Configurations
Field path notation is used in the following configurations:
- Network Creation - used to create Fields when generating a new Network.
- Edit Table View Configuration - used to display values in the Network Table.
- Multifile Network Export Configuration: i2 iBase - used to export values from a Network.
- Network Field Selections - used to create Fields from an existing Network.
Example
In a Network, Nodes and Links have fields which provide descriptive information about the node/link. For example, a Person node could have fields such as Name and Date of Birth (DOB) which in the Network Creation configuration can be set to capture the value of the field:
When the network is created, the field name as defined in the above screenshot, is displayed in the Fields section of a node as shown in the following screenshot:
